We are the Union County Democratic Party!

Our Mission
Union County is home to over 37,000 registered Democrats, and nearly as many progressive and liberal unaffiliated voters. The mission of the Union County Democratic Party is to mobilize those voters to elect local, state, and national Democratic candidates and to promote progressive values. We are fighting for a fairer and brighter future for every American: rolling up our sleeves, empowering grassroots voters, and organizing everywhere to flip Union County and take our country back.

IT’S TIME TO GET INVOLVED!
Every Democrat in Union County is invited to help organize and volunteer in their precinct. A voting precinct is the smallest voting unit of the Democratic Party. People in a precinct live near each other and have the same designated polling place (where you vote) on Election Day. There are 52 precincts in Union County.
All of our Democratic precincts, statewide, will hold organizing meetings on February 15, 2020. This is one of the most essential ways to help Democratic candidates win in 2020 and beyond. Each precinct elects a chair, vice chair, secretary, and treasurer every two years. These are unpaid, volunteer positions. We need you to come to your meeting, elect officers or run for a position yourself, write and pass resolutions. This is your chance to meet new people and to be part of the positive change you want to see in our county, state, and country.
UCDP Monthly Meetings
Union County Democratic Party (UCDP) monthly meetup is held the 3rd Thursday of every month at 6:30 PM at the Old Armory Community Center in Monroe, located at 500 S. Johnson St, Monroe, NC . We are also currently holding our meetings as a hybrid model. You can join our meetings virtually by registering at this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZArcO-srjkrHNVPfOiCurYdSVg4MFgbPRYN?fbclid=IwAR36PwTZacOsnw0fupgFqb7GLKRDItuzatgy_gqGBX41-v6-aNPgh1a1Ync
Our Values

Education
Providing a world-class public education
Providing a world-class public education to every child in Union County should be our top priority. We must pay our teachers enough to attract the best and brightest to our schools, and ensure that our well-trained veteran teachers do not leave the state. We must also give our teachers the support they need to help our children succeed in the classroom. Our public school system – from kindergarten on up through the University of North Carolina system – is our greatest resource, and the Union County Democratic Party supports making public education a priority again.

Our Economy
Building a stronger economy
The Union County Democratic Party supports building a stronger economy that works for everyone, not just the wealthy. Every worker should be a paid a fair wage. Rather than passing regressive sales tax hikes, we should work toward tax relief for the middle class and small businesses. We should stop putting up barriers like House Bill 2 that prevent North Carolina from continuing to attract good, high-paying jobs.

Our Environment
Protecting our air and water
Everyone in Union County should be able to breathe clean air and drink clean water. The Union County Democratic Party supports cleaning up coal ash ponds and believes the people who made the mess should pay to clean it up. Corporate polluters should be held accountable for their actions. UCDP opposes the corporate cronyism that allows polluters to make environmental rules and believes the Republican-led General Assembly should answer to our citizens, not its corporate donors. One of the things that makes North Carolina great is our abundance of livable communities and vibrant wildlife, and we will fight to protect our state’s environment.

Our People
Ensuring Equal Opportunity
As Democrats, we believe in equal opportunity and non-discrimination. Every North Carolinian should be treated fairly regardless of how they look or what they believe. NCDP also believes everyone should receive equal pay for equal work, regardless of gender, race, or any other physical characteristic.
