Notes From The Chair
Two years? Yikes! I’d like to thank all the Union County Democratic members, the UCDP Precinct Leadership, and the UCDP Board members for all their support over the last two years. In some ways, this has been the longest two years of my life and in others, it seems like the shortest. It is as though it was only yesterday I was standing in front of you accepting the responsibilities as the UCDP Chair. The most obvious thing that comes to mind is that I have gained so much respect for so many people who I have watched step up during such trying times. I have seen people come together and put aside traditional differences because, under the circumstances surrounding COVID-19 and the Trump debacle, all of our priorities became aligned due to the underlying need to save our country. I’m talking about the coming together as Democrats, we tagged as the “Blue Crew.” With the support and leadership of precincts, candidates, our auxiliary groups, board, and others that all gave up various turf squabbles and differences to come together and speak with one voice to save our country and work for our democratic values. I can’t say enough about our Union County Democratic volunteers. These guys and gals have been pushing and pulling things uphill now for over 2 years. It is important to keep focused on your goal when you are climbing a mountain. We have not reached the top yet in Union County, but our county was one of only 5 in the state of NC that had an increase of Democratic voters. Bravo! To my board, I owe a debt of gratitude that will be difficult to ever repay in full. We were all thrown together with a job to do during challenging times. I know now we were the right people at the right time. Each came to the board with a Democratic heart to move Union County forward. I know how much each one of them contributed to our party’s success. Many doing “behind the scenes” work that was not part of their job description. Thank you for your patience and hard work. My heartfelt thanks to all of you. To the next board that gets elected, I have faith in your ability and grateful that you will lead us into a very exciting future. Your enthusiasm, big ideas, positive energy, and commitment will make change possible. With sincere thanks, Pam ![]() Your Outgoing Board Team Jose Santiago – 1st Vice-Chair Kevin Daniels – 2nd Vice-Chair Benjamin Gonzalez Jr. – 3rd Vice-Chair Gordon Daniels – Treasurer Cristal Robinson – Secretary |
