Union County Senior Dems Special Evening Presentation

Thursday, December 5, 2019   6 to 9 PM -  Refreshments will be served

The Union County Senior Democrats will host a special presentation concerning the implications of the “Older American’s Act,” the largest single piece of legislation affecting older Americans. Linda H. Miller, Aging Program Director for the Centralina Area Agency on Aging will give a brief demographic review about growth in the older adult population and what that means in our communities.

Ms. Miller will describe what an Area Agency on Aging is and how it helps provide services to seniors in our region. Knowing what it is and why it is so crucial helps seniors learn to advocate to their elected officials by being better informed.

She will discuss other critical issues such as nutrition issues for older adults, caregiver issues, and employment for older adults.

Union County Senior Democrats (UCSD) is a chapter of the North Carolina Democrats. The organization seeks to foster and perpetuate the ideals and principles of the Democrat Party, and empower seniors by educating them on current political and voter issues. UCSD diligently works to keep senior citizens informed, on issues that impact them, e.g., health, housing, social welfare, etc.

UCSD regularly meet at 2:00 p.m. on the 2nd. Tuesday of each month, at Atrium Emergency Hospital Waxhaw Community Room, 2700 Providence Rd. S., Waxhaw, NC 28173 except for our twice yearly evening meetings.
